In Kenya, ending a Business Name Registration, Proprietorship, or Partnership is called the Cessation of a Business Name. This process is guided by Rule 8 under Section 22 in the Schedule to the Business Names Act. You can de-register a business name when the business is completed, when a partner dies, or when other circumstances make it impossible to continue the business.
If you’re in Kenya and must cease your business name, Rayness Analytica provides Cessation of Business Services for Business Name registrations, Sole Proprietorships, and Partnerships. Here are the steps to de-register a business name registration in Kenya:
- Fill out an application for cessation and submit it to the Registrar of Business via a “Notice of cessation of Business name” Form.
- After approval, the registrar will remove the business name from the register and issue a “Certificate of cessation of Business name.”
- Your business name will be considered removed from the Register of Business Names.
