The tax authority issues a KRA PIN certificate to individuals, businesses, and organisations to register them as taxpayers. A PIN certificate is required for many purposes, including paying taxes, opening a bank account, getting a lease, and purchasing a motor vehicle.

To apply for a PIN in Kenya, foreign nationals must meet specific requirements, such as having a valid Alien card, a Special Pass for short-term employment, or an endorsement of Investor by KENINVEST on proof of capital, among others.

Here are the requirements for PIN registration in Kenya:

  • Valid identification document (ID, Passport or Alien ID card)
  • Personal details (full name, date of birth, gender, nationality)
  • Email address
  • Physical and postal address
  • Business details (name, type of business, location)
